APERTURE

The Space

This coffee shop caught me off guard. Each Café in my opinion gives of very different vibes. I usually base my decision on the type of work I need to get done. My staple for doing creative work is Lost + Found Café in Gastown, but Aperture is moving its way up the ranks. This cozy little space in Broadway is just my cup of tea (or should I say coffee). The reason why I love it is because of the interiors. The space is filled with paintings, books and sassy little signs here and there. It’s bright, inviting and did I mention they have PLUGS? OH. SNAP.

The Offering

They serve drip coffee and espresso-based drinks. The beans they use are from intelligentsia. They offer many options and their affogatos are one of their main staples. If you’re hungry they have plenty of pastries, sandwiches and wraps. This is a great place to do work especially if you need an extended period of time.

My recommendation: I’m a black drip coffee type of guy so that’s what I ordered. If espresso-based I would go for their flat white or cappuccino. They make a very smooth cup. I went with a friend and she really recommends the affogatos. Their americanos are served different than normal as you can control the amount of hot water; I found this very playful and quite interactive. Rest assured, I will be back for more.

The Verdict

This is a great coffee shop that is convenient. If you live close to the Canada line or have easy access to the 99 then I highly recommend giving this place a visit. Order yourself a big cup of coffee, plug your laptop in and listen to the smooth jazz playing on their stereo. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Where will Coffee take me next? #CwC
