Prado Cafe

The Space

The two locations are very different, but also quite similar. First off, the interiors at Fraser uses more warm colors and brown wood. This gives off a very cool neighbourhood vibe, but at the same time inviting as well. Meanwhile, the W. Hastings location gives off a very chic feel with the use of white and black as their primary colors. While working in the Gastown area this summer, Prado satisfied every drip coffee fix I had. Both locations are always busy with people and it provides a very fun place to either do work or grab a hot cup of coffee and have a conversation.

The Offering

Good food, great coffee and delicious kombucha. There was one occasion where I stayed in Prado for 6 hours. Not only was I productive, but also I didn’t need to leave. Plugs are available at both location, but only in certain spots. They proudly serve 49th Parallel Coffee, which is a staple in Vancouver. Prado serves KOMBUCHA ON TAP. Let me repeat that again….KOMBUCHA ON TAP. I’m currently in love with this beverage so excuse my hypeness. In terms of food, I think doing simple things well is a skill. My suggestions: pea mint avocado toast (basics unite), order of lavender komchua and a big 16oz cup of drip coffee.

The Verdict

Prado is a great Café. If you’re planning to study or do work for an extended portion of time then look no further. Grab a cup of coffee to start and when your stomach starts rumbling that’s when you order my recommendations above. You’ll be more than satisfied with the experience here. I’m very glad to have Prado and 49th parallel in this city, both great organizations and builders of coffee in Vancouver. Where will Coffee take me next? #CwC
